Casting is the physical skill of fly-fishing, and nearly all fly fishers can benefit by improving their casting.

Loop Control and Reach Cast Clinic (dry land clinic)
Controlling your fly line is the foundation of good fly casting, and the reach cast is the secret to effective dry fly fishing.  The first part of this clinic focuses on controlling your loops on both forward and back cast and eliminating tailing loops.  In the second half of the clinic you'll learn to make consistent and accurate reach casts.

Distance Casting Clinic (dry land clinic)
Everyone wants to learn to cast farther.  This clinic will review loop control, which is the foundation of all good fly casting, and introduce the Double Haul, which is the single most important distance technique.  The clinic will also show you how to extend your stroke and shoot more fly line.

Casting Clinic - New, Review, Improve

A dry-land clinic designed for both beginners and experienced casters.  
This is a time to learn, review and add techniques to your casting to help make your experience on the river easier.  The less you have to think about your casting the more you can focus on catching fish!

Topics include:
      -          basic stroke,
      -         false casting,
      -         casting accuracy,
      -         shooting line,
      -         reach cast,
      -         double haul,
      -         casting the clock.  

Alternative casting techniques for those who experience shoulder
or elbow discomfort.

After the Cast – Fly Line Management

You can make a great cast, but what happens after the cast is just as important.  This is an on-the-water class that will help you become a more effective and efficient fly fisher.

Topics include:  
          - delivery
 
               - mending
          - retrieving
               - shooting line
               - controlling slack
          - pick-ups
               - reading the water to get a better float

Students who enroll in both  Casting Clinic - New, Review, Improve and  After the Cast – Fly Line Management  
clinic receive both for $150.00 plus gst.

Private Clinics
Hone your skills in a personalized fly casting clinic for you or your group. These 2 hour sessions will focus on the fundamentals of the basic stroke, loop control, timing, accuracy and may also teach reach casts, slack casts and the double haul.  When possible, these clinics will make use of video recording of both your casting and the instructors’. These clinics are intended for people who already are familiar with basic fly casting. 

Date and location determined in consultation with students.   
Cost: $100 plus GST for one person
         $180 plus GST for two people
         Request quote for larger groups.
